Key points -
1. Pray and ask for God to go before me and guide my thoughts, bringing all thoughts to His authority in Jesus name.
2. Making sure it is a priority which will bring about honor to God and good in my life and others.
3. Dedicated effort with determination to get it done. Think "I will not let anything keep me from accomplishing my goal." If interrupted, go back to it at first chance and finish.
4. Do it out of love not obligation, and with a joyful attitude. I am much more motivated if I'm doing it in love with God and love for both others and myself. Also I feel much happier and more satisfied when I complete it and it strengthens my mental health. My discipline is also stronger, and gives me satisfaction of a job well done.
Victim Versus Victor Mindset:
A victim views themselves as born and stuck in a system they will never get out of. They tend to both blame themselves and others to the point where they give up hope. They self-sabotage spiritual, relational, physical and financial change with a tendency to self-indulge and abuse themselves and others. They may call themselves a slave to the system.
A victor views themselves as someone who may have been given very few helpful tools to win. But they are determined to make good changes, submit to God and their authorities, fight for what is right, fight for love and to protect themselves and those they love, and will not let anyone stop them from achieving their goals. They may start out with very little, but they use such terms to themselves as "I came out of failure and instead I am learning to succeed. I was once a sinner, but I am now washed by Jesus blood. I was a loser but now I am armed and ready to win. I was poor but now I am rich in soul and will gain more and more riches. I was self-consumed but now I can reach out my hand in kindness to others."
Gambler Versus Investor Mindset:
A gambler at their core cannot control their burning urge to grab whatever they see, whether it belongs to others or not. They stay up late at night trying to visualize and manifest something they want but never get what they want. They spend limitless amounts of time, money, energy, even relationships into 1 object, whether that object is worth their effort or not. Often their desired object is a fascination which makes them continually lose control and takes control of them, sucking out their intelligence, strategy, relationships, self-worth and time. They never get ahead because they always end up digging themselves deeper and deeper into their own traps.
An investor recognizes what they have been given by God, is grateful and looks around carefully for a place to get profit. They will not immediately jump hastily but they are intentional and do not procrastinate. When they have researched and premeditated their actions, they will make preparation, plans and strengthen their support system. Finally they make the move to invest themselves, their talents, time and relationships into 1 stable avenue which will have an absolute certainty of increase and no waste. They do not look back. They know it will take a while to see the profit but they are patient. When they receive profit they immediately meet their obligations then reinvest for the next season, taking care to expand and gain a new field with their profit while securing what they already have. They make steady, regular progress.
Short goals (daily / weekly goals, Easy Level) - Scheduled daily occurrences
Example Goal 1: Clean bedroom
a. Item 1 Change Sheets
b. Item 2 Put away items
c. Item 3 Dust and vacuum
Medium goals (projects that take multiple days to accomplish - Medium Level) - Scheduled for a certain range of dates with a deadline to accomplish. It is easiest to accomplish when broken into attainable steps.
Example Goal 1: Sort outdated mail
a. Step 1: Mark which is urgent and dispose of what is no longer valid
b. Step 2: Pin all urgent mail to bulletin board and file less urgent mail
c. Step 3: Set deadlines for urgent mail in phone alarms, then accomplish each urgent item by deadline
Long goals (long-range goals which could take months / years) -
This is easiest and least stressful to accomplish when broken into achievable give-and-take scenerios
Example Goal 1: Pay off car
a. Scenario 1: Set up automatic payments with as low interest as possible
b. Scenario 2: Budget to spend same value less on a less essential item in the budget or combo of less essential items (spend less on eating out, entertainment, etc.)
c. Scenario 3: Self-motivate by celebrating once every month with something that is either free or low cost and enjoyable (ie: go on a daytrip to hike, fish, swim, etc.)
Decluttering and inspiring thoughts:
1. Use Idea Board for pinning reminders, urgent mail, upcoming events, photos, and other items for memory.
2. Chart progress using a wall calendar and stickers for however many goals you accomplished that day.
3. Be intentional.
4. Motivate yourself to discipline with love and happiness instead of more urgency to get it done. If you add urgency to an already urgent situation, it will accumulate stress and you will burn out and cause mental damage. However, celebrating victories, rewarding with attainable and happy results, and setting healthy personal boundaries will help you stay consistently on track.
Personal Boundaries and Looking for a Healthy Friend Group:
1. Pray for insite from Jesus through His Holy Spirit.
2. Recognize where you need to grow then recognize others who have the same growth patterns.
3. Make attainable, quality goals which will produce excellent results and look for others who are doing the same.
4. Recognize toxic and self-sabotaging traits in yourself. Strategize ways to overcome them and keep encouraging yourself.
5. Cut ties with others who are going to suck your energy, resources, and even your motivation to do good for God, others and yourself by their toxic behavior.
